The Pont de Gau Ornithological Park is the ideal site to discover, observe and photograph many species of birds, including hundreds of flamingos, in their natural environment. Pond, marshes, lawns, roubines, reed beds and Sansouïres form this vast area of 60 hectares entirely dedicated to the discovery of nature and birds of the Camargue. It is through the paths of the park, where only the song of the birds comes to interrupt the silence of the places, that you will be able to observe, even more closely, birds that seem totally to ignore you.

The ramparts of Aigues-Mortes are a masonry enclosure protecting the city center of Aigues-Mortes, in the Gard, in France. Built between 1272 and 1300 near the Constance Tower, the ramparts extend over a length of 1,600 metres. They are the wish of Louis IX.

The Carbonnière Tower is quoted for the first time in a text dated 1346 which gives details on the function of the work: it says that «this fortress is the key of the kingdom in this country.»
Indeed, located in the middle of the marshes, it was the necessary passage to access Aigues-Mortes: its crossing was subject to a toll. It was held by a garrison composed of a squire and several guards. The terrace could support up to four pieces of artillery.

La Gardiane de Taureau is the traditional dish of Camargue. It owes its name to the «gardian», guardian of herds free of bulls - the famous Camargue «manades». The bull is raised in semi-freedom and chooses its food among the natural flora. This method of rearing helps to preserve the balance of ecosystems and gives its meat a flavour unlike any other. In order to enhance the value of local products, the restaurateurs and breeders of Camargue decided to file, in 2004, a charter defining the characteristics of the gardiane.

The Place de la Comédie in Montpellier is the central square of the city, south-east of the Coat of Arms, in the heart of what was the medieval city. It extends over a former fortification area that leads to the citadel of Montpellier (now Joffre High School) and the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade to the east. Roughly rectangular and elongated, it is about 230 m long and 50 m wide. It forms with the esplanade (340 m long and 50 m wide), one of the largest pedestrian complex in France.

It takes its name from the municipal theatre whose monumental facade adorns the southwest side of the square. The Place de la Comédie is the focal point, the centre of all Montpellier activities and, in fact, it is a major attraction, but also the starting point for a more in-depth discovery of the historic city.

Located on a hill in the heart of the city, the gardens of the Fountain were created on a magnificent historical and natural site of 15 ha. First European public garden, it consists of two landscaped architectures:
      - An 18th century classic garden;
      - A landscaped Mediterranean garden;
Its creation began in 1745. At the request of the king of France, Louis XV, Jacques Philippe Mareschal (engineer of the king, Director of fortifications of the provinces of Languedoc) is the designer.

The Pont du Gard is an aqueduct bridge built by the Romans in the 1st century AD. It is exceptional in its dimensions since with its 49 meters of height, it is the highest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world. It is composed of 3 rows of superimposed arches (6 arches on the first level, 11 arches on the second level and 47 arches originally), which is also a rare achievement for the time. Finally, it is remarkable because of its excellent state of conservation, which has led to its being admired as a masterpiece of human creative genius. It is the only example of an ancient 3-storey bridge still standing today..

City of Art and History, Arles is renowned for the wealth of its ancient and Roman remains. The city has indeed several monuments listed as World Heritage by UNESCO:

• its Roman amphitheater (the arenas);
• its ancient theater;
• the Alyscamps, alley lined with sarcophagi;
• the Cryptoportiques, a network of underground galleries supporting the ancient forum;
• the Baths of Constantine, the portal and the Saint-Trophime cloister. The Saint-Trophime church, of Romanesque architecture, constitutes an important stage on the road to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.

Arles offers a wide choice of museums such as the museum of ancient Arles and Provence, the Museon Arlaten (traditional art and Provençal culture), the Réattu museum (contemporary art), the Camargue museum.
Many places in the city, such as the garden of the nursing home (Van Gogh space), the forum square, the banks of the Rhône or the arenas, were immortalized by the famous paintings of Van Gogh during his stay in Arles. A whole Van Gogh circuit is offered in the city, with panels representing the artist's works in the various places where he was inspired.
Located at the gates of the Camargue, the city has preserved its traditions: Gardians festival, Costume festival or even Easter and rice fairs, bullfights in the arenas. Located in the south of the Gard department, the Gard Camargue, or Petite Camargue, offers nature lovers beautiful landscapes, both wild and peaceful, composed of ponds, reed beds, marshes and meadows, where horses, bulls , flamingos and herons follow one another.
Protected natural space with an area of 215 hectares, the Center du Scamandre, near Vauvert, offers, through its museum space, its discovery trails and its educational workshops, an awareness of the protection of the natural environment.
In terms of gastronomy, rice, sand wines, salt and fleur de sel are some of the Camargue specialties to taste. Rich in traditions, especially bullfighting, this region is also famous for its breeding of Camargue bulls and horses.

The tielle sétoise is a succulent culinary specialty of the city of Sète in the department of Hérault, with octopus and spicy tomato sauce. Its name of Italian origin "tiella" means flat.

Cod brandade is a cod-based dish that is dried and salted cod. This specialty of Nîmes has spread throughout Occitania, from Languedoc to Liguria, through Provence and Roussillon, to the Catalan countries.

The rouille or Provençal rouille(rouïo, in Provençal) is a traditional recipe of rust-colored sauce of the cuisine of Mediterranean Provence, based on potatoes, tomatoes, monkfish liver, and olive oil. It is traditionally served in Provence with crusts of bread rubbed with garlic, especially with fish soup or bouillabaisse...

The fougasse of Aigues-Mortes is a special version, soft brioche perfumed with orange blossom and sprinkled with sugar. A true emblem of the medieval city, originally served at Christmas, it was one of the thirteen Provençal desserts

A neighbour of its capital Aigues-Mortes, the Domaine Royal de Jarras is an extraordinary discovery. Opened in 2014, the Marette (Maison du Grand Site de France) is an eco-museum dedicated to the discovery of the landscapes, traditions, fauna and flora of the Camargue gardoise. The Nîmes Arena is a perfect example of the degree of improvement achieved by Roman engineers in the design and construction of this very complex building. Indeed, it has a perfect symmetry. Of oval shape, it measures 133 meters long and 101 wide with a track of 68 by 38 meters. Measuring 21 meters high, its exterior facade is two floors of 60 superimposed arcades and an attic, separated by a cornice. At the top, protruding, pierced stones received mats to which hung a velum, an immense canvas spread over the spectators to protect them from the sun and the weather. Originally, all the arcades on the ground floor were open to serve as an entrance or exit. We know of larger Roman amphitheatres, but it is the best preserved of all.
